#Urbans, remember last year when #KanyeWest suddenly canceled his “Saint Pablo” tour due to an alleged mental breakdown? Well apparently Ye is suing various syndicates of the insurance company Lloyds of London for stalling on paying out claims. #Kanye had to submit himself to an interrogation under oath, to have the insurance company cover the remaining dates on the tour once it was cancelled.
Wait…. there’s more! The #tea is that the rappers insurers haven’t paid because they think his mental health issues are caused by drug use.
In documents obtained by the Hollywood Reporter, it states:
“They have not provided anything approaching a coherent explanation about why they have not paid, or any indication if they will ever pay or even make a coverage decision, implying that Kanye’s use of marijuana may provide them with a basis to deny the claim and retain the hundreds of thousands of dollars in insurance premiums paid by Very Good, Inc.”
Mr West is suing the company for with holding their payments and in breach of contract. In a statement made by West’s lawyer Howard King writes,
“Performing artists who pay handsomely to insurance companies within the Lloyd’s of London marketplace to obtain show tour ‘non-appearance or cancellation’ insurance should take note of the lesson to be learned from this lawsuit: Lloyd’s companies enjoy collecting bounteous premiums; they don’t enjoy paying claims, no matter how legitimate.”
Let’s hope Ye can settle this dispute and so he can continue to move forward with his career.
